Type Tool Part-I
In this session we will Learn all about Type Tool.Text is most important element of our design. We have to use different types of fonts and settings for various types of designs. So Lets start Learning about text.

Type Tool(T)
Select Type tool from Tools Panel its comes with a Tool set. Select first Tool. Click on blank area it will changed to I shaped its called cursor, click and start typing. if we want to write one or two words or one-two sentences then type this way..
if we want to type large amount of text like books and magazines etc then use Paragraph text, create a text frame and start typing..
To increase or decrease size of your text don't scale just increase font size by using these shortcuts...
Increase font size CTRL + SHIFT + >
Decrease font size CTRL + SHIFT + <
For character Formatting we use Character Panel
Go to Window menu ---> Type --->Character Panel (CTRL+T)
Font Family
Font is like different writing styles. This list shows only those fonts which are installed in our Pc.
We can download and install more fonts also.select desired font from the list for your design and then set the font style.
Font Style
Fonts style are the styles like bold, italic, black, Bold Italic, Condensed, Semi Bold etc that are available in fonts.
you can see and install more fonts by using Control Panel---> Fonts.
Font Size
You can increase or decrease fonts size from this option. or you can use shortcut keys.Increase font size CTRL + SHIFT + >
Decrease font size CTRL + SHIFT + <
Leading
This option is used to adjust the line spacing, mostly we set this to auto so it will adjust automatically.
Tracking
This option is used to adjust Character spacing, 0 value will be normal spacing.
Kerning
This option is used to adjust space between special pair or letters. In some fonts there is less space or more space then other letters so we can adjust this space.
Vertical Scale
This option is used to scale vertically the text. If this value is less or more then 100% it will not look good so make sure this is set to 100%.
Horizontal Scale
This option is used to scale horizontally the text. If this value is less or more then 100% it will not look good so make sure this is set to 100%.
Baseline Shift
This option is used to shift the text up or down from the base line.Character Rotation
This option is used to rotate the characters.
All Caps
This option is used to convert selected text into Caps Letters.
Small Caps
This option is used to convert selected text into Caps Letters but small letter will be in small caps means height will be less then capital letters.
Superscript
A superscript is a character (such as a number or letter) that is set slightly above the normal line of type, respectively. It is usually smaller than the rest of the text. superscripts are above baseline.
Subscript
A subscript is a character (such as a number or letter) that is set slightly below the normal line of type, respectively. It is usually smaller than the rest of the text. subscripts are below baseline.
Strikethrough
Strikethrough is a font effect that causes text to appear as though it is crossed out.Anti-aliasing is the smoothing of jagged edges in digital images by averaging the colors of the pixels at a boundary.
Touch Type Tool
By using this tool we can select a single letter from any word without effecting other letters and can scale it or change formatting, this is a new Tool introduced in CC version of Illustrator.
Paragraph Text
Now we will work on paragraph text. When we have to type text in large amount then we will create a text frame after that we will start typing, this is called Paragraph Text.To open Paragraph Panel , Go to Window menu ---> Type---> Paragraph Panel (ALT+CTRL+T)
Alignment
Alignment is related to how text will flow in paragraph text frame.
Left Alignment
All lines will be equal from left side and text flow will be from left side.
Center Alignment
All lines will be equal from Center and text flow will be from Center.
Right Alignment
All lines will be equal from Right side and text flow will be from Right side.
Justify With Last Line Aligned Left
Text Lines will be equal from both sides space between words will be increase and last line will be left.
Justify With Last Line Aligned Center
Text Lines will be equal from both sides space between words will be increase and last line will be Center.
Justify With Last Line Aligned Right
Text Lines will be equal from both sides space between words will be increase and last line will be right.
Justify All Lines
Text Lines will be equal from both sides space between words will be increase it will justify all lines.
Indents
There are 3 indents
Left Indent
Space from Left side in Text Frame.
Right Indent
Space from Right side in Text Frame.
first Line Indent
To give space before start of First line of paragraph.
Space Before Paragraph
To give space before start of paragraph.
Space After Paragraph
To give space After start of paragraph.
Hyphenate
This option is used to best fit your words in text frame, if there is a big word at the end of line it fits some letters and then place a dash(-) and shifts remaining letters to next line. if you un tick or off this option then whole word will be flow to next line.
