Understanding Pathfinder -Create Complicated Shapes using Pathfinder-

In this sesion You will learn how to create complicated shapes using Pathfinder. 

To open Pathfinder Panel Go to Window Menu - Pathfinder or use shortcut key Shift+ctrl+ F9. 

 Unite 

This option is use to merge two or more shapes and creates a single shape.





Minus Front

By using this option we can remove front shape from back shape.



Intersect

By using this option we can create a new shape with the intersection of two selected shapes.



Exclude

By using this option we can remove overlapping area or intersection of two objects. it is just opposite to intersect.

 



When we mouse over on these options like Unite, Minus Front, Intersect or Exlude it shows a Tool Tip message ((Alt +Click  to create a compound shape and add to shape area) ). What it means ???
It means if you Alt+click that option it will create a compound shape and add to another shape, but paths will not merge, you can still make changes to shape. 


After making changes you can click on expand option in Pathfinder to merge the paths.

Divide 

By using this option we can divide shape into two or more parts. how it works ??? where there is a path it will cut into two parts.

 
after using divide right click and ungroup or (Ctrl +Shift + G) to  ungroup all parts and apply different colors.


Trim 

 By using this option we can remove the overlapping extra area from selection shapes.




Merge 

It will merge the same color objects and trim different color object.




Crop 

It will crop the back shape withing front shape, means it will remove all the part of behind shape which falls outside the front shape.


it will remove the front shape color, apply again.

Outline

It will creates outlines from selected shapes and removes fills. 



Minus back

It will remove back shape from front shape. its just opposite to Minus Front.
